Title

Mark Moran

Virginia U.S. Senate Candidate
Independent

Bio

Mark Moran is an attorney, investment banker, and entrepreneur running for Virginia's U.S. Senate seat as an Independent. A graduate of William and Mary and the University of Virginia School of Law and Darden School of Business, he spent years advising on over $75 billion in healthcare M&A transactions at Centerview Partners on Wall Street. He left finance after realizing his work was directly affecting vulnerable patients' access to care. He initially entered the Democratic primary but left the party in April 2026 — making the announcement at St. John's Episcopal Church in Richmond, the same church where Patrick Henry delivered his Give me liberty or give me death speech in 1775. He is challenging three-term incumbent Sen. Mark Warner.

Platform

Education — The Pursuit: A 2% gross revenue fee on Virginia's booming data center industry funds free community college and debt-free four-year degrees for all Virginians. Housing — Liberty: A 0.1% stock trade fee creates a National Mortgage Trust offering 20-year mortgages at inflation plus 1% — making homeownership achievable for younger generations priced out of the market. Healthcare — Life: A Universal Healthcare Compact that prevents public healthcare dollars from flowing to publicly traded corporations, directly targeting the privatization of public health insurance. Constitutional Reform: A proposed 28th Amendment banning corporate political spending to overturn Citizens United. Campaign Finance: No corporate PACs. No Wall Street donors. No AIPAC funding. Refuses to caucus with either party or trade votes for committee chairmanships.

AFU Statment

Mark Moran walked away from Wall Street wealth to fight for working Americans. He walked away from the Democratic Party when it stopped serving the people. Running as a true independent, he answers to no party boss, no bundler, and no foreign lobby — only to Virginians. His Common Benefits Plan puts education, housing, and healthcare within reach of every American, funded by making the powerful pay their fair share. That is America First in action.
